Russian Ministry of Energy Proposes to End the Practice of Must-Run Heat Generation Beginning with 2016

Russian Ministry of Energy ProposesThe Ministry of Energy has come forward with a proposal to end the practice of must-run generation of heat come 2016. Deputy Minister of Energy Viacheslav Kravchenko said this at a roundtable discussion entitled, Heat Supply Reform Aligned with Strategic Interests of Investors and the State, Interfax reports.

According to Mr. Kravchenko, proposals to this end have already been prepared. "Must-run heat generation will cease to exist as a class beginning with 2016", he said, adding that he considers this practice to be an "atavism". He went on to underscore the importance of the heat pricing reform without which the problem of must-run heat generation cannot be resolved.
